casa avita

the location

Casa Avita is a casual, bohemian modern hideaway perfectly situated for whale watching in the winter, and sunbathing in the Spring. Facing northwest overlooking Punta Negro and Litubu Bay, the house boasts a perfect mix of shade and sun, catching the westerly spectrum of the sunset’s afterglow beyond the lush tree canopy beyond.

our story

After visiting Punta Mita several times over the span of ten years, my husband and I weren’t convinced that the resort was somewhere we wanted to call our “home away from home” someday. So we dragged our two young boys all over Mexico searching that perfect place, one that celebrated our love affair with Mexico: the people, the language, cuisine, vibrant colors, constant sunshine, warm aquamarine waters, and of course, some of the best beaches the world has to offer. But the global pandemic shifted priorities and finding the “perfect” place was no longer realistic. We suddenly recognized the enticing value of an open air vacation home a mere three hour flight from our home to escape the urban chaos of the Bay Area. But we also weren’t interested in a vacation home overlooking a golf course but rather, one that offered the utmost privacy, ideally facing the expansive sea, and surrounded by the quintessential, lush Mexican rainforest.

One visit to Iyari checked all the boxes! One of the newest developments in the resort, Iyari is situated on the hillside overlooking the ocean, enjoying ample sea breeze and abundant wildlife all around. And the resort has so much to offer - from golf to tennis, fine dining, and more, you’ll never get bored in Punta Mita. The final touch was working with the talented Hana Waxman of Hana Waxman Designs to help bring our vision of the interiors to life.

We welcome you to come and see for yourself, reset, and unwind.

Bienvenidos!

WE LOOK FORWARD TO YOUR STAY.
